Rwandan President Kagame in Uganda for Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Birthday
Rwandan President Gen Paul Kagame has arrived in Uganda and is expected to attend a dinner hosted by President Museveni.
The dinner coincides with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 48th birthday celebrations which kicked off yesterday with a marathon and a social function at Lugogo Cricket Oval in Kampala.
Gen Kagame was last in Uganda four years ago.
The Rwandan leader was received by Security Minister Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi and Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Commander of UPDF Land Forces.
After receiving his guest, Gen Muhoozi who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations escorted Gen Kagame to a hotel the Rwandan leader will stay while in Uganda.
Both President Kagame and Gen Kainerugaba have been applauded for their efforts to normalize relations between Uganda and Rwanda.
Speaking to his guests at Lugogo yesterday, Gen Kainerugaba assured Ugandans and well-wishers that the relations are now good and will even get better.
The Ugandan General also said he decided to celebrate his birthday with all Ugandans as a gesture to thank God for gifting the two nations with good relations.
