Rotarians Gather for District Governors Banquet
Rotarians, renowned for their steadfast commitment to service above self, rightfully paused to rejoice in their accomplishments and camaraderie at the District Governors Banquet, which marked the thrilling culmination of the three-day extravaganza that commenced earlier in the week at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
Hosted by the vibrant Rotary Club of Kampala Ssese Island, the Governor’s Banquet not only witnessed Rotarians strategizing for the upcoming year but also acknowledged and celebrated individual clubs that had exceeded expectations in various projects.
The banquet also served as a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing district governor, Edward Kakembo Nsubuga, and a warm welcome to the Governor-elect, Ann Nkutu.
In her address, Nkutu expressed gratitude to everyone for their support and pledged to serve to the best of her abilities. Renowned for her storytelling, especially among those around her, she had a tale for the night.
With a Gatsby-era theme, Rotarians arrived in their finest attire and were treated to a delectable feast featuring mouthwatering traditional Ugandan delicacies as well as a customized selection of Johnnie Walker cocktails.
As the evening progressed, the ambiance shifted from refined dining to electrifying entertainment. While guests anticipated Bebe Cool’s performance on stage, they were pleasantly surprised when Sheebah took the spotlight first.
Bebe Cool, scheduled to perform at 10 p.m. according to the program, was invited on stage two hours later for his live session. He performed songs such as “Fire Burn Dem,” “Fire Anthem,” and “Mbozi Zamalwa,” before inviting the Governor-Elect to join him on stage to dance to his hits like “Kabulengane,” “Teka Sente Wolaba,” “Kasepeki,” and “Love You Everyday.” However, the sound provided by Legends Entertainment was not optimal during his performance.
Regardless of whether one loves or loathes him, Bebe Cool is known for speaking his mind, and despite being compensated for his appearance, he criticized the organizers for poor time management, urging the new team to address this issue in future conferences
