Police in Zombo District are hunting for unknown robbers for hacking a mobile money operator and stealing money and various items.

The incident happened in  Paidha Town Council when the attackers armed with machetes raided the shop in the evening and demanded money. The mobile money dealer identified as Akiki Amoti, 22, attempted to sound an alarm, prompting his assailants to stab him several times on the stomach, left arm and chest.

Eye witnesses claim they heard loud noises that suddenly stopped and later observed three men running out of the shop through one of the dark corridors. Amoti who survived with minor injuries is currently receiving treatment at St. Maria Clinic along Nyondo Road, where he was rushed by Good Samaritans.

Amoti narrates that he was attacked by one of his regular customers with a Lugbara-accent whom he can properly identify.

Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson, described the attacks as varying in nature, including follow-home and front-gate attacks, physical assaults, as well as incidents occurring at the premises or during transit to and from banks.

He urged the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their personal safety. The investigation into the attack on Akiki Amoti is ongoing.
