Catholic Priest in Trouble for Stabbing Man to Death
Police have arrested a priest attached to Iriri Catholic Church, in Napairipirit district, in connection to the death of a 30- year old man.
The suspect Fr. Alinga Dominic, was recently suspended from his church and from the priestly ministry effective 17th July 2024 by Rt. Rev. Damiano Guzzetti, the Bishop of Moroto Diocese for misconduct.
The deceased identified as John Bosco Ngorok was allegedly murdered by the man of God under unclear circumstances.
The incident happened in Kitooro along the road leading to Entebbe International Airport , in Entebbe Municipality, in the wee hours of Saturday at around1am, when the deceased was stabbed to death by his killer who later fled the scene, only to be captured later in Tororo district.
At the time of his demise, Ngorok, 30, was working with Uganda Revenue Authority under the Domestic Tax Department.
A funeral service is underway today Monday 05th August 2024 at 8am at Kyambogo Chapel and Ngorok’s lifeless body will thereafter be taken to Nakapiripirit for burial.
ACP Kituuma Rusoke, the Uganda Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and says investigations are still underway to establish the circumstances of the killing.
Kituuma told journalists at the police headquarters on Monday that the deceased was stabbed on the neck and head by the assailant who was unknown at the time of the attack. He says they later tracked and identified the suspect.
Kituuma also notes that the deceased died while receiving treatment at Grade B hospital in Entebbe, twenty minutes after he was rushed there.
The killer weapon was discovered and the suspect has been detained on murder charges, awaiting his production in the Courts of law.
