Renowned Broadcaster DJ Nesta Leads Anti-Corruption Crusade in Fort Portal
Renowned broadcaster and former football commentator DJ Nesta, known off the air as Larry Macura, has unveiled his strategy to combat corruption and foster patriotism in Fort Portal City following his appointment as Assistant Resident City Commissioner (RCC).
DJ Nesta, asserting that corruption has impeded the city’s progress, pledged to confront this issue head-on.
“I am determined to tackle corruption because it has been the primary obstacle to development.
Funds allocated to districts and cities often remain unutilized, or worse, are misappropriated. Shoddy work is commonplace, resulting in a lack of value for money. I aim to ensure that every penny allocated to the city is effectively utilized, with tangible results,” he asserted.
Beyond his anti-corruption efforts, DJ Nesta intends to cultivate a sense of patriotism among the city’s residents, which he believes has been lacking.
DJ Nesta attributed his appointment to his extensive experience working with the President’s Office, where he served as a regional coordinator since 2015.
“I received a call from the President’s Office informing me of my appointment. I have been serving in the President’s Office since 2015,” he revealed.
“As the regional coordinator for Mzee (Museveni) under the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), I have overseen operations across the entire Tooro region, from Kyegegwa to Bunyangabo, Ntoroko, Kamwenge, and beyond. I believe my performance has been recognized, leading to this appointment.”
When questioned about his broadcasting career, DJ Nesta made it clear that he had no intention of abandoning it.
“Absolutely not. Just as we have doctors, musicians, and other professionals serving in parliament while continuing to excel in their respective fields, I am a trained broadcaster and remain deeply passionate about it,” he affirmed.
