Singer Rema Namakula is unperturbed about exposing her 3-year-old daughter, Aaliyah Ssebunya, to internet trolls.

Recently, the singer defended her decision to showcase her toddler on social media, asserting that it is every parent’s right to raise their child as they see fit.

“If it is your child, you can treat them whichever way you want. If you want to put them online, you can do that, and if you don’t feel like it, then you shouldn’t; because it is your child,” she said.

Aaliyah, Rema’s first child with her husband Hamza Ssebunya, has a significant social media presence.

A TikTok account in her name has 200k followers, while another on Instagram boasts over 22k followers.

Rema noted that in the modern social media era, shielding a young child might not be effective.

“Whether you are protecting that child or not, the bad people will always be there,” she said. “So, to the parents, I would simply advise you to always lay hands on their children and pray for them because we don’t really have a sure way of protecting them.”
