One person has been killed while multiple others are nursing serious injuries after a rally car driver lost control and crashed into a crowd of spectators in Busiika
A violent video seen by this reporter shows bystanders scampering to safety as the car smashed into the crowd.
In the video, a number of people are seen sprawled on the ground as attendees fan them with sheets in an apparent bid to cool them down.
Patrick Onyango, the Deputy Police Spokesman posted on his Facebook page:
“Busiika motor rally accident. One (1) confirmed dead and nine (9) injured. The injured were rushed to Mulago, Nsambya hospitals and Kasana Luwero health centre. Cause: The rally driver was trying to save the life of a thief who had stolen a mobile phone. The thief was being chased and he suddenly cross the road which made the driver to break suddenly and he was at high speed. The vehicle rammed into the fans and in that process 10 people were victims.”
