Director Arrested for Allegedly Detaining and Torturing Employee for Four Months
Kasozi Yoweri, proprietor of both Tooto Wetu Education Programme Children and Youth Centre and Mentor High School in the heart of KKB Cell, Bweya Ward, Kajjansi Town Council, is behind bars for the alleged illegal detention and torture of one of his employees.
Yoweri stands accused of subjecting Euriana Daniel, a 21-year-old cook at Mentor High School, to months of unlawful confinement and abuse. Euriana, recently promoted from a security guard at Tooto Wetu Youth Center to a cook at Yoweri’s school, endured a harrowing ordeal from December 2, 2023, until March 13, 2024, locked away in a storage facility on suspicion of theft.
The allegations suggest that Yoweri, upon suspecting Euriana’s involvement in the disappearance of four iron sheets and five used drums from the school’s storage, resorted to extreme measures. Euriana was reportedly denied access to food and water, intermittently locked out of the storage, and subjected to physical assault by Yoweri during this period of captivity.
The tide turned for Yoweri when concerned whistleblowers alerted the Kajjansi Division Police Commander (DPC) on March 13, 2024, leading to a decisive police raid on the school premises. As a result, Euriana was liberated from his unlawful confinement.
ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed Euriana’s statement, detailing his four-month ordeal at the hands of his employer. Presently, Yoweri remains in police custody at the Kajjansi police post, facing charges of unlawful detention and torture.
Owoyesigyire says Yoweri awaits his day in court, where he will be held accountable for the grave accusations brought against him.
