President Museveni Celebrates Son’s 50th Birthday in Lavish Private Ceremony

President Yoweri Museveni and family marked a momentous occasion as he celebrated his son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s 50th birthday in a lavish ceremony held at State House.
General Muhoozi who is also the reigning Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), was clad in his military wear during the private sponsored dinner with family and friends.
The event, attended by close family members including President Museveni’s wife, Janet Museveni Kataha, their children and grand children, General Muhoozi’s wife, Charlotte Nankunda, was a joyous affair filled with gratitude and reflections on their family’s journey.
A few notable close friends and colleagues were present at the event including, Attorney General Kiryowa Kiwanuka, Ministers Lillian Aber among others.
During the private dinner hosted at Entebbe, President Museveni expressed his thankfulness to God for the life he has shared with Maama Janet, whom he serendipitously met and married in August 1973.
He stated that their union, built on principles of wealth creation, family values, education, and faith, has been deeply fulfilling, yielding joy through their children and grandchildren.

I am grateful to God for reuniting me with Maama Janet, whom I accidentally met at the Intercontinental Hotel and married in August 1973. Our life together has been fulfilling, based on a foundation of wealth creation, family, education, and the fear of God. General Muhoozi was recently appointed General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the Chief  of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), replacing General Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, who transitioned to a ministerial role in the Ministry of Trade and Cooperatives.
General Muhoozi, renowned for his leadership within the military, has been commended by colleagues for his unwavering commitment to integrity and efficiency in combatting corruption and abuse of power within the armed forces.
Under his leadership, the UPDF is expected to undergo further modernization and focus on enhancing combat capabilities, maintaining accountability, and promoting the health and ideological education of its personnel.
The appointment of General Muhoozi as CDF aligns with the operationalization of the UPDF Establishment 2021, a strategic framework enabling effective command, control, and administration within the armed forces. This document provides guidelines for deployment, training, capacity building, and organizational restructuring within the UPDF.
