The President will again address the nation on Friday, August 5, 2022, the third time in two weeks.

According to his  Senior Presidential Press Secretary Lindah Nabusayi, the forth coming address will focus on “development issues,”and will broadcast live on all local televisions and radios.

Last week, President Yoweri Museveni responded to incidents of machete criminal gangs attacking security officers and citizens in the broad day light.

The president said security forces have already made some progress in relation to the attacks on a police constable who was hacked at a roadblock in Luweero.

He also cited the killing of James Kakooza, a National Resistance Movement (NRM) councillor for Kamwokya Church Parish, who was attacked during his morning run by thugs riding a motorcycle.

“The other day there were some panga groups that attacked police officers in Luweero and took two guns. Immediately they brought Police sniffer dogs that traced them up to school where they escaped in a car. Police are looking for that vehicle. The ones who killed Kakooza, in no time the police got suspects.

“There’s no way you can do bad things and you think we shall not know you. It may take a bit of time but we shall know you and you will most likely die if you try to resist.” Museveni added.

On the cost of living, the President reiterated that there will be no tax cuts or subsidies for high commodity prices. He asked the public to instead be frugal in their spending and use of resources.

The President however emphasized that the future of the economy lies in science and technology.

He brought on board Paul Musasizi, the chief executive officer of Kiira Motors, to explain the need for electric vehicles, trains and Motorcycles in the near future. Musasizi says they have capacity to assemble 5000 vehicles annually.

The third presidential address comes at a time when the public is still seeking solutions from the government on inflation. It also comes as thousands have been displaced in flooding in Bugisu and Sebei sub-regions
