His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has announced the promotion and confirmation of 918 officers within the UPDF.
The announcement was made in a statement released by Defence Spokesman Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, dated July 10, 2024.
According to the statement, 898 officers have been promoted, while 20 senior and junior officers have been confirmed in their ranks. The various promotions include:
- Colonel to Brigadier General: 5 officers
- Acting Colonel to Colonel: 3 officers
- Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel: 15 officers
- Acting Lieutenant Colonel to Lieutenant Colonel: 3 officers
- Major to Lieutenant Colonel: 10 officers
- Acting Major to Major: 10 officers
- Captain to Major: 63 officers
- Acting Captain to Captain: 4 officers
- Lieutenant to Captain: 155 officers
- Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant: 650 officers
Brig. Gen. Kulayigye on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs congratulated the newly promoted and confirmed senior and junior officers. He emphasized that this milestone is a testament to their well-deserved recognition and dedication to duty.
