President Museveni Urges NRM Leaders to Mobilize for Voter Register Verification

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in his capacity as the National Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has called on party leaders and supporters to participate actively in the ongoing voter register verification exercise.

The initiative is part of the preparations for the 2026 General Elections.

In a letter dated 7th January 2025, addressed to NRM leaders at all levels, the President highlighted the roadmap announced by the National Electoral Commission, detailing the timeline for the critical voter register update.

The verification exercise runs from 7th to 10th January 2025, with registered voters’ names displayed at polling stations across the country. Citizens are encouraged to confirm their registration details and ensure the names of deceased individuals are removed, while newly eligible voters, those who have turned 18 are added.

“This is the time for us to check if our names, and those of people we know, are accurately reflected on the register. Let us also verify and update these registers by removing the dead and registering new voters,” Museveni emphasized.

He urged leaders and supporters to mobilize communities during this period to ensure full participation. “We must be proactive in this exercise. It is essential for the integrity of the electoral process and the success of our party in the coming elections,” Museveni said.

President Museveni congratulated Ugandans for completing 2024 and wished them a prosperous 2025. He extended condolences to the families of members and citizens who passed away last year, invoking prayers for their eternal peace.

The 2026 General Elections will include Presidential, Parliamentary, and Local Government polls. The NRM Chairman underscored the significance of a clean voter register as a cornerstone for credible elections, urging Ugandans to take the exercise seriously.
