President Museveni Urges MTN to Attract More Investors to Uganda
President Yoweri Museveni has encouraged the MTN Group to bring more investors to Uganda to foster development and achieve its social and economic goals.
The team from the MTN Group met with the to express their gratitude at the Commonwealth Resort in Munyonyo. The meeting followed the conclusion of the two-day Uganda-South Africa Trade and Investment summit.
During their discussion, President Museveni said bringing more investors to Uganda would help the country develop faster and achieve its social and economic goals.
The President said, “If you bring me these investors, your business will grow even more because many Ugandans are still starting businesses. Having people with money and business skills will speed up progress.”
The MTN Group delegation, led by Chairman Mr. Mcebisi Hubert Jonas, thanked President Museveni for the ongoing support the telecom company has received since it started operations in Uganda.
Key attendees at the meeting included Hon. Evelyn Anite, the Minister of State for Privatization and Investment, as well as several top officials from MTN, including Mr. Ralph Mupita, MTN Group CEO, Ms. Yolanda Zoleka Cuba, MTN Group Vice President for Southern and East Africa, Mr. Charles Mbire, MTN Uganda Chairman, and Ms. Sylvia Mulinge, MTN Uganda CEO, among others.
In his closing remarks at the Uganda-South Africa Trade & Investment Summit, President Museveni urged South African investors to partner with Uganda to tap into its vast economic potential. He emphasized that this collaboration would not only benefit both countries but also contribute to the development of Africa as a whole.
The President expressed his gratitude to His Excellency Ramaphosa for enabling South African investors to participate in the summit. He highlighted Uganda’s abundant resources, including agriculture, minerals, and forests, and stressed the importance of African nations working together to unlock their full potential for collective growth and prosperity.
