President Museveni to Lead NRM’s 38th Liberation Day Celebrations in Jinja

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has confirmed that the Liberation Day celebrations for 2024 will take place in Jinja City, as announced by Kirunda Farouk, Deputy Press Secretary to the President.

President Museveni will preside over the celebrations, with attendees, including journalists covering the event, required to undergo COVID tests.

In a statement, Kirunda specified that accredited reporters in Kampala should take the Covid-19 test on January 24, 2024, at the State House Lands Office along Lumumba Avenue in Nakasero. For those in Jinja, the test will be conducted at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital on the same day at 9 am.

The National Resistance Army (NRA) will mark the 38th anniversary of Uganda’s liberation in 1986. On January 26th, 1986, President Yoweri Museveni, alongside fellow revolutionaries, seized Kampala, initiating a new era in the nation’s history. Their primary goal was to free Ugandans from oppressive regimes.

During the Swearing-in ceremony on January 29, 1986, President Museveni pledged a fundamental change, emphasizing that it went beyond a simple change of guard, representing a profound shift in the country’s politics. This commitment became a unifying force, inspiring the population to come together for the reconstruction of Uganda after years of despair caused by poor governance from 1966 to 1986
