President Yoweri Museveni is back in the country following his successful conclusion of a 6-day foreign trip to Togo and to London, the British capital.

The President who was in Lome, capital of the West African nation of Togo from 17th to 19th January 2020, joined other Heads of State and Government there for the France-Africa Summit that deliberated on issues pertaining to Drug Trafficking and Counterfeit Medicines on the African continent.

During the 2-day Summit in Lome, President Museveni described the continued trafficking of counterfeit, sub-standard and falsified medicine and health products on the African continent as a “crime against humanity” and a huge risk for countries all over the world.

While in London for the inaugural UK-Africa Summit, the President urged investors at the UK-Uganda Business Forum to report government officials who seek bribes, saying punitive action will be taken against those found guilty.

Mr. Museveni was also the recipient of the African Leadership Peace Award in recognition of his efforts in stabilizing and transforming Uganda.

The President was received on arrival at Entebbe International Airport Wednesday evening by Presidency Minister, Hon. Esther Mbayo and the Head of Public Service, Mr. John Mitala.

Others at the Airport to receive the President included Assistant Inspector General of Police, Andrew Sorowen, Lt. Gen. Charles Lwaanga Lutaaya, Commander of the UPDF Air Force and Mr. Moses Kakungulu, who is the In-Charge of Corporate Affairs in the Uganda Prisons’ Services.
