President Museveni Retires Seven Generals
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, has retired seven generals from active military service.
The five generals include Fred Tolit, Eugene Ssebugwawo, Emmanuel Rwashande, Jesse Kamunwanire, and Max Gumisiriza.
In his message on his official X Account (formerly Twitter), President Museveni expressed happiness towards the dedicated services of his former NRA Bush war heroes. “I was happy to attend the retirement ceremony of army Generals Fred Tolit, Eugene Ssebugwawo, Emmanuel Rwashande, Jesse Kamunwanire, and Max Gumisiriza. These officers, and the others before them, can now retire in a time of peace, free from the internal conflicts that plagued armies before the NRA,” he wrote.
President Museveni also praised the bush war heroes for engineering peace and stability and noted that this retirement is a good sign of the eradication of the culture of division. “Their retirement signifies a transition to peace, with the eradication of the culture of division (politics of identity) due to the stability provided by the NRM’s strong ideology,” he added.
He also prayed for luck as they return to communities. “I extend my gratitude to these retiring generals for their dedicated service and commitment and wish them good luck as they return to their communities.”
