President Museveni Praises CDF Gen Kainerugaba for Streamlined Independence Parade

President Yoweri Museveni has commended General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), for implementing notable improvements to the Independence Day parade.

The changes made the event more streamlined, concise, and well-coordinated. Museveni commended the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) for their flawless execution, observing that the soldiers efficiently fulfilled their duties and departed promptly, in contrast to the longer parades of previous years.

The president expressed his satisfaction with the improvements, highlighting that they had made the event smarter and shorter. Just two days before the celebrations, General Kainerugaba personally inspected the parade preparations in Busia, exemplifying his hands-on leadership approach and ensuring the forces were fully prepared.

During the event, General Kainerugaba, represented by his deputy, Lieutenant Gen Sam Okiding, expressed his appreciation for the recognition. He stated, “We (UPDF) thank His Excellency @KagutaMuseveni for recognizing and appreciating the new parade drills.”

In addition to the celebrations, President Museveni announced his intention to lead regional infrastructure initiatives.

He outlined plans to encourage East African leaders to collaborate on developing road networks that would connect the region with the Central African Republic (C.A.R.) and extend further into Central Africa. Museveni emphasized that such projects would strengthen regional ties and foster economic growth.

Furthermore, Museveni urged Uganda Airlines to consider establishing new flight routes to the C.A.R., highlighting the potential to enhance trade with the Central African nation. The Ugandan president stressed the importance of building stronger trade relationships “with our brothers and sisters” in the C.A.R.

President Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic who had been invited to Uganda by Museveni, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception. He praised Uganda’s leadership for its dedication to promoting regional cooperation.
