President Yoweri Museveni touched down in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), on Sunday night, for discussions with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and to engage with Arab investors on investment opportunities in Uganda.

The President was invited by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He was welcomed at the airport by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In a brief statement on his official social media page, the President states that the two leaders will discuss strengthening bilateral ties with investments .

“I have Arrived in Abu Dhabi, UAE. I am looking forward to fruitful discussions with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and to engage with Arab investors on investment opportunities in Uganda.” he wrote

President Museveni has actively pursued UAE companies to invest in Uganda’s manufacturing, transport, and extractives sectors.

In a recent meeting at State House Entebbe, Museveni engaged with representatives from the UAE-based One Mobility Group company, known for managing and operating public transport in Abu Dhabi, North Africa, Tanzania, and Kenya.

During this meeting, the group expressed a keen interest in expanding their services to Uganda, specifically by enhancing Kampala’s mass public transport system. This signals a potential collaboration that could bring expertise and investment to improve and modernize Uganda’s transportation infrastructure.

This is the second time the President is travelling to the UAE in a period of one year.
