The NRM National Chairman, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, and First Lady Mama Janet Museveni will participate in the Tuesday village structure elections.
Their attendance was confirmed today, Saturday, by NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong in a press conference held at Plot 10, Kyadondo Road, Nakasero, Kampala.
During the press briefing, Dr.Tanga Odoi, the Electoral Commission Chairman, issued guidelines that will be followed during the Tuesday Baraza day and elections of party structures and CL1 Chairperson flag bearers in the 72000 NRM polling stations.
According to Dr Tanga these structure elections and village barazas will be held in all the 72,000 villages of the country apart from Rubirizi district where the exercise has been put on 7th May 2025 because of the seasonal market in the district that will interrupt the exercise.
Dr Tanga on Tuesday 6th May at every village polling station at 10am 11am will be reading of names of voters from the NRM voters register and from 11am to 12pm to candidates will be introducing themselves before voters, 12pm to 2pm the voting activity will start.
Dr Tanga emphasized that on the this day the village registrars arenot expected to register new members in the register.
He added the over seers of these activities will be village registrars with duties of of introducing the canditates to voters and in charge of announcing the winner.
He warned political leaders at all levels not to give instructions to village registrars because they are Commanders of this all activities.
He warned that voting by proxy is prohibited but one will have to physically go to his/her village and participate with using another person.
He also urged village registrars to use the language voters understand when it comes to vote counting to ensure that voters hear and understand who has won and which number of votes.
