President Museveni Defends Speaker Among Amid Social Media Attacks

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has addressed the recent social media attacks on Speaker Anita Among, clarifying that within the NRM, they assist members, especially those who may make mistakes as they are still learning.

He emphasized that the real problem lies with traitors who work for foreign interests rather than with the Speaker or other Members of Parliament.

President Museveni made these remarks while speaking to residents of Bukedea at Emokor Grounds, following the commissioning of Bukedea Teaching Hospital and College of Health Sciences, a project spearheaded by Among, who is also the Bukedea District Woman Member of Parliament.

The President urged Ugandans to focus on food security and income-generating activities to uplift their livelihoods. He highlighted various government initiatives such as Entandikwa, NAADS, Operation Wealth Creation, Parish Development Model, and Emyooga, along with free education in government schools, aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting education.

President Museveni also addressed concerns about environmental degradation and encouraged sustainable agricultural practices like fish farming and avoiding rice cultivation in swamps.

During the commissioning ceremony, President Museveni praised Speaker Among for her innovative and transformative projects, including the teaching hospital and a school facility.

He acknowledged her accountability and dedication to improving the lives of Ugandans through constructive endeavors.

Additionally, he lauded her efforts in offering free medical care to pregnant women and children while providing quality education at her school. The President commended her for creating employment opportunities and utilizing resources effectively to address community needs.
