President Museveni emphasized the crucial role of urbanization, particularly through industrialization, during his visit to the Horyal Investment Holding Company in Gem Pacilo village, Atiak Sub-County, Amuru District.

He stated, “Urbanization, especially through industrialization, is vital for the region, and anyone opposing it is either ignorant or an adversary of progress.” The company, owned by businesswoman Dr. Amina Hersi Moghe, operates the Atiak Sugar Factory, which the president visited to assess its progress.

Addressing concerns over land use by the factory, President Museveni denounced those creating divisions among the people of Acholi, labeling them as opportunists. He expressed determination to thwart any disruptions orchestrated by groups like the Balaalo, emphasizing the importance of preserving unity and preventing external interference in Acholi’s development.

Highlighting the significance of the Atiak Sugar Factory as a catalyst for growth, President Museveni stressed its potential to benefit not only the people of Acholi but also neighboring areas. He commended Dr. Amina for her entrepreneurial initiative and called upon leaders, including Members of Parliament, to rally behind such investments for mutual prosperity.

Furthermore, President Museveni pledged to honor the family of the late John Omaya for their pivotal role in facilitating the establishment of the factory. He advised smallholder farmers to adopt more profitable farming practices, such as the four-acre model, instead of cultivating crops like sugarcane and cotton.

Ministers Francis Mwebesa and Norbert Mao lauded President Museveni’s dedication to industrialization as a means of fostering economic growth, job creation, and community development.

They underscored the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises, as evidenced by initiatives like the Atiak Sugar Factory.

Dr. Amina expressed gratitude for the government’s support, which has contributed to the progress of her company. The project aligns with President Museveni’s vision of industrializing Northern Uganda, as outlined in the Juba Peace Agreement, aiming to transform the region into a vibrant economic hub.
