President Museveni Appoints Gen Lakara as Air Cargo Boss
President Museveni has appointed Lt. Gen Nakibus Lakara as General Manager of the Uganda Air Cargo Corporation (UACC).
The UPDF General who has been the AMISOM Deputy Force Commander in Charge of Operations will replace Eng. Frank Kyankya.
Army sources have confirmed Lt Gen Lakara’s appointment.
Meanwhile, Lt Gen James Mugira, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Enterprise Corporation, the business arm of the UPDF has also been appointed to the Board of UACC.
The appointment of new management, according to Defence officials, is aimed at providing efficient management to the strategic institution and also generate revenue for the government.
President Museveni has vowed to clean all government agencies that are causing loses to the government through corruption.
“I am still concerned about our tax:GDP ratio, which at 14% is still very low. Part of the problem has been collusion at URA to aid tax evasion. We have now cleaned URA and will do so with other agencies,” Mr Museveni said after the national budget reading last week.
President Museveni has also made changes at the Kampala Capital City Authority, nominating a new executive director and other directors.
About UACC
UACC was established in 1994 to Provide and operate safe, efficient, adequate, economical and properly coordinated air transport services within and outside the country, for cargo, passenger, chartered passenger flights, air mail services and flight training.
The corporation is a government entity supervised by the Defense and Veteran Affairs Ministry.
