President Gives UGX 5 Million to Families Of Each Student Who Died In Kasaka SSS Truck Crash

President Yoweri Museveni has directed the State house controller to allocate five million shillings to the families of each of the victims who perished in a computer classroom at a school in Gombe district on 14th.March, 2023.

On that fateful day, a Sino truck registration number UBL 790J lost control and rammed into Kasaka Senior Secondary school fence, proceeded through to the school computer Lab that was occupied by students, killing three students on spot and injuring others.

The deceased students have been identified as Evelyn Namagembe a student of form five, Mawanda Bosco of S2, and Asege Hilda of form four. Another student succumbed to injuries in hospital.

Traffic police on Tuesday confirmed that the  truck driver a one Wanume Abudala 26, was arrested in connection to the incident.

While addressing parliament on Thursday at the Kololo Ceremonial grounds, President Museveni condoled  with the families of the deceased and asked legislators present to stand up and observe a moment of silence for the four students of of Kasaka S.S ,and in remembrance of Ugandans lost to Ebola, Covid and landslides.

The President hen ordered the State House comptroller to give UGX 5 million to the families of each of the Kasaka Secondary School students killed in the crash and UGX 1 million to each of the injured students in Gombe Hospital.
He has also directed the Prime Minister and Attorney General to get in touch with the families of the victims to ensure the truck owners compensate them as per the Law of Uganda.
Article 101(2) of the Constitution mandates the President in consultation with the Speaker, to address Parliament on any matter of national importance. President Museveni last addressed the House on 20 June 2018 on the state of security in the country.
This address coincides with impending commemoration of the first anniversary of the demise of my predecessor, Rt. Hon Jacob Oulanyah.
