Political Camps Have no Place in NRM – Museveni

President Yoweri Museveni has said political camps are not for the ruling NRM which he leads.

He was addressing the NRM parliamentary caucus sitting at Kololo Independence Grounds on Monday (June 7, 2021).

He thanked the NRM members for overwhelmingly voting party candidates for the positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker.

Museveni also said he would maintain the same size of cabinet but with an additional state ministerial slot to make them 80.

The President said he would first appoint vice president and prime minister, before publishing list of nominees for ministerial positions.

The caucus had convened to express interest to serve on various parliamentary committees.

The President is yet to appoint a chief whip for the party.

NRM secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba warned the MPs against corruption, saying the party will not hesitate to replace committee bosses should they start ‘asking for sanitiser’ before handling issues.
