Police: Tik Toker Arrested For Spreading Hate Speech Against Buganda Kingdom

Police in Kampala are holding infamous tiktoker Musana Ibrahim alias Pressure 247, for hauling insults at the person of the Kabaka of Buganda, his Katikkiro and the entire kingdom.

For a span of months, Pressure 247 has used his tiktok platform to insult the prestigious Buganda King Kabaka Ronald Mwenda II, calling him an impostor to the throne and claiming he is the rightful heir to the throne. Pressure also used his social media platforms to attack the person of the President as an accomplice to the Kabaka in hiding his native origin.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga told journalists at the police headquarters that Pressure was picked up by police officers attached to the Crime Intelligence from his place of residence in  Kawuga Mukono.

Enanga says he is being held at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (CID) at Kibuli, Kampala on charges related to hate crimes, incitement of violence, defamation, and offensive communication targeting the Kabaka of Buganda, the Katikkiro of Buganda, and the Buganda Kingdom at large.

Other charges slapped on Pressure stem from the Computer Misuse Act, including misuse of social media, hate speech, spreading malicious information, and incitement to violence.

He says Pressure was arrested on Saturday, February 17, 2024,  after a series of reported incidents on various digital platforms including TIKTOK, Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

Police have also recovered incriminating evidence including over 50 videos containing anti-Kabaka sentiments that were deemed vulgar, abusive, hostile, and defamatory.

Enanga says the arrest has garnered widespread support from a large section of the Buganda community and well-wishers who have expressed their displeasure at such negative sentiments directed towards the Kabaka of Buganda.

“The Kabaka’s devotion has long been revered as the cornerstone of the Buganda Kingdom and is deemed essential for its preservation.” says Enanga

He has commended the CID and Crime Intelligence task teams or their diligent efforts in apprehending Presure saying this sends a strong message to all perpetrators of hateful ideology that they will face prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
