Police Reveal Facts on Viral Video of Aggravated Robbery at ESO Corner Junction

Police have reacted to a CCTV video trending on social media capturing a robbery incident that occurred on 15th July 2024 at approximately 12 PM at Eso Corner in Kampala city.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy police spokesperson identifies the victim as Joshi Keshav, a 32-year-old Indian national and tour and travel company operator based at Crown House on Kampala Road.

Keshav  filed a case of theft  of his personal belongings and money shortly after the incident, at the Nkurumah Road Police Station.

The CCTV footage shows Keshav on a motorcycle carrying a bag when he was cornered by several riders due to heavy traffic. The assailants proceeded to beat and rob him, however, Keshav sustained only minor injuries..

Owoyesigyire reveals that among the stolen items include a laptop valued at UGX 2.2 million, cash amounting to UGX 150,000, an Ecobank debit card, and keys.

He states that police are tracing Keshav’s movements from the start of his journey to the location of the incident and have gathered various clues to aid in the ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in this crime.
