Police Officer Threatens to Shoot LC I Chairperson after she reports him to Superiors
A police officer in Namisindwa District is in trouble for threatening to shoot dead an LC I chairperson of Ituko cell in Magale town council over a disagreement.
The police cop in question has been identified as only Wabuna, attached to Magale police station.
Wabuna reportedly pointed his gun at Mutonyi and threatened to open fire after accusing her of reporting him to his senior and ruining his reputation.
It all started in late July, 2022, when locals discovered a baby of approximately 6 months dumped at Magale Parents high school and handed it over to Mutonyi.
Stranded with the baby, Mutonyi decided to take the baby to the nearby Magale police station where she found Wabuna on duty.
Wabuna advised her to keep the baby at least two more days as police searched for its biological mother, which she accepted.
Mutonyi says after spending over a week without hearing from the police in Magale, she forwarded the matter to the Elgon Region Police Child Protection Unit for help.
However, Mutonyi’s actions angered Wabuna who attacked her and pulled out his firearm, threatening to shoot her for reporting him and his colleagues to their superiors.
Wabuna reportedly threatened to finish her off any day and his statements have since given Mutonyi, sleepless nights fearing for her life.
Wabuna has since declined to comment on the accusations, saying he isn’t authorized to speak to the media, and referred our reporter to Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson.
Taitika has no comment as he is yet to receive a briefing on Mutonyi’s complaint. He advised her to seek legal redress, saying that no security officer is allowed to threaten to shoot innocent civilians.
