Police Officer Leaves Behind Suicide Note After Shooting Self Dead

Police Constable Ekisa Emmanuel, 27, called time on his life on Sunday, April 28, 2024 by shooting himself with his own firearm.

According to reports from IP Moses Mugwe, the Ag Police Spokesperson for Bukedi South Region, Ekisa was on duty at Iyolwa police post, armed with rifle No. UG-POL. 5631005914-23881 and 30 rounds of live ammunition.

He says preliminary investigations indicate that Ekisa went into his room during a drizzle, and shortly thereafter, a gunshot was heard from within. Upon hearing the shot, the Officer-in-Charge of the post went outside and detected the smell of gunpowder emanating from Ekisa’s room.

The officers entered the room, only to discover Ekisa’s lifeless body lying on a mattress in a pool of blood. The rifle, with its safety catch opened and facing his neck, was identified as the weapon used in the incident.

He explains that a suicide note addressed to his father and family, dated April 18, 2024, was recovered from Ekisa’s pocket. In the note, Ekisa expressed his decision to end his life due to the stress he was experiencing.
