Police Mounts Search After Groom Disappears Ahead of Wedding Day
The Police in Kampala have started investigations into the alleged disappearance of a groom a day to the wedding, leaving the bride and other relatives in shock.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman, Luke Oweyesigyire, said detectives at the Central Police Station in Kampala had started getting statements from relatives after they reported the disappearance of Dr. Patrick Kabagambe Mbusa.
The bride, Christabella Kobusingye, is devastated about the matter.
“They have just appeared at Police today and we are going ahead to investigate the matter,” Oweyesigyire said when contacted over the matter on Saturday.
He added that the bride reported the matter and was one of those who had recorded statements.
This followed information that started circulating on social media over the disappearance of Kabagambe on the eve of his wedding day.
It was reported that he went missing with his car registration number, UBH 905X, “this Saturday, April 10, 21, and all his known contacts are off”.
The social media message also included three of Kabagambe’s contact lines, which they said were all switched off.
The message also indicated that a case had been reported at Kasangati Police station on SD REF 22/10/04/2021, with the complainant as Kobusingye who reported case of disappearance.
In the report to the Police, however, the groom has been referred to as a suspect or victim.
“The family is stuck with the wedding and reception. Kindly assist to trace the suspect/victim,” the statement indicated.
