The Kampala Police have initiated an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the fatal stabbing of Esther Nakagawa, a 25-year-old sex worker and resident of Lufula zone in Kawempe, Kampala district. The incident occurred at the Okatho Inn guest house in Bwaise, a suburb of Kampala.
On Saturday, around 8:00 am, a staff member of Okatho Inn Guest House discovered a suspected bloodstain under the door of room four. Promptly, the police were alerted, and upon their arrival, a thorough examination of the scene revealed a knife with blood stains, a cap, a plate with suspected blood stains, two cups, two bottles of Nile Special beer, a torn condom cover, a box of condoms, used condoms, and a bottle of water.
Eyewitness testimonies indicate that the deceased sex worker had been a regular visitor to the guest house since October of this year. Police findings at the scene suggest that the victim’s body was found partially under the bed in a pool of blood. The victim was wearing a white patra with a red blouse, both soaked in blood. It was determined that the incident occurred on the floor of the room, not on the bed.
The recovered exhibits, including the knife and various items with blood stains, have been submitted to the forensics laboratory for further analysis. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to Mulago City mortuary for a postmortem examination.
In connection with the investigation, seven suspects, including the manager and workers of the guest house, have been arrested. They are currently detained at Kawempe police station as inquiries into the matter continue.
