Police Hunt for Thugs Who Killed Security Guard, Robbed 1 million shillings

Police in Iganga are on the hunt for thugs who hacked to death a local security guard at a fuel station before breaking into a supermarket and making off with 1 million shillings.

The suspects, reportedly covered in black face hoods, attacked Nesta Silver Supermarket at Bugumba ‘A’ village in the early hours of Tuesday morning, around 3 a.m.

The thugs used a hoe to fatally hack Eriya Byandala, who was guarding the fuel station. Two security guards had been hired to watch over the station, but one was asleep at the time of the robbery. After killing Eriya, the assailants grabbed his gun and used it to attack the supermarket.

Inside the supermarket, the thugs ordered the cashier to surrender all the cash in the coffers into a polythene bag. They also demanded that three other people present in the supermarket surrender their guns.
