Police headquarters go under lock-down over COVID-19

The Uganda Police headquarters in Kampala will be temporarily closed, the force has announced.

Police spokesman Fred Enanga who was addressing the media in Kampala on Monday, said the three-day closure will allow for COVID-19 disinfection and testing of personnel for the virus.

Enanga’s pronouncement comes on the backdrop of one senior Police officer testing positive for the virus.

He said the National headquarters and the National Command Centre will resume operations immediately after the disinfection and fumigation.

The force has been carrying out random testing of officers and Enanga said the exercise would continue because of actively being in touch with the public.

So far Uganda has recorded 2,263 cases of COVID-19 since the outbreak was first reported in March.
