Police Frustrate Armed Attack On Nakulabye Police Station

Police in Nakulabye on Wednesday morning foiled gun attack on Nakulabye Police station by unknown assailants.

In a press statement released by the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire, one suspected criminal armed with a AK 47 gun tried to attack the police station at 4:00 am.

The unknown assailant was spotted by one police officer (names withheld ) walking towards the police station from the western direction.

Owoyesigyire the officer who was on station guard duty started firing live bullets at the suspected criminal who panicked and escaped, in the process dropping an AK47 Magazine with 5 rounds of ammunition.

Owoyesigyire says Police officers immediately dispatched a team of investigators with the help of canines to follow the direction the attacker but failed to locate him.

He adds that investigations into the matter have commenced and police are currently retrieving CCTV footage to identify the attacker and their movements.  

This is the third time that unknown goons are attacking a police post in a space of three weeks.

Just last week on Thursday, assailants gunmen riding on a numberless motorcycle stormed Kesington police post in Kyanja and fired live bullets before fleeing into oblivion.

The goons fired two rounds, shuttering the window pane at the police post, putting locals in the area under total fear. No injuries were registered.

Three weeks ago, Busiika Police Post, which is 33km outside Kampala was raided by a gang of unknown assailants who shot dead two police officers and injured three others. The incident occurred at around 7.30 pm.
One of the injured succumbed to bullet wounds  at Bombo military hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Moses Wagaluka, the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Alex Ongoro and Steven Ondama.

Police are still investigating all incidents and reviewing CCTV footage, no suspect has been arrested in relation to the attacks.
