Katwe police have apprehended a suspect in Ggangu C Cell, Busabala Ward, Masajja Division, on January 15, 2025, during a joint patrol operation. The suspect was found in possession of suspected stolen property and opium.

The operation, conducted at 3:30 a.m., involved officers from Kibiri Police Station, Gangu UPDF Detach, and local council leaders. Three suspects, including Sserugo Isaac, were intercepted, but two managed to evade arrest.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson says upon searching the premises, law enforcement recovered10 knives, 2 pangas, 1 hammer, and 4 pliers, 4 master keys, 5 phones, 1 StarTimes decoder, and 1 Gotv decoder, 5 women’s handbags, 1 suitcase, and 12 SIM cards.

The suspect failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for the items in their possession. Statements from witnesses were recorded, and the recovered items are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.

According to Onyango, the detained suspect is being held at Katwe Main Police Station for further interrogation to determine their motive and involvement in potential criminal activities. Efforts to track down the two escaped suspects are underway.
