Police Arrest Security Guard for Shooting Woman Dead in Kampala

The Police in Kampala are holding, Caleb Muhwezi, a private security guard attached to Swat Security Company for shooting dead one person and injuring another in down town Kampala on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred at around 8:15pm along Ben Kiwanuka Street.

Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says while deployed at Pioneer Building on Wednesday evening, Muhwezi pulled his gun trigger killing 36 year old Brendah Bukoye a resident of Nsambya Railway and injuring Anita Nanyonjo, a student of Kampala University.

Nanyonjo was rushed to Mulago Hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.

According to the Police the cause of the shooting is still unclear as the suspect, now detained at Central Police Station Kampala is yet to record a statement.

“Muhwezi was arrested, weapon recovered and yet to give his statement upon what happened.  He has been charged with murder vide SD Ref: 81/23/01/2019 of Central Police station,” Owoyesigyire said.
