Police in the Kampala Metropolitan Area have continued with coordinated disruptive operations aimed at preventing crime and enhancing public safety, resulting in the arrest of more than 400 suspects across various divisions.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, SP Racheal Kawala, the operations were conducted on February 24 and 25, 2026, in different parts of Kampala and Wakiso District. During the operations, police recovered exhibits, including opium rolls, breaking implements, and suspected house-breaking tools.
In Kira Division, Wakiso District, police conducted operations on February 24 at about 8:00pm in Mulawa Trading Centre and Najjera Kamwanyi, leading to the arrest of 81 suspects. In Old Kampala Division, operations carried out between 5:00pm and 9:00pm in Kisenyi Zone, Muza Zone, and surrounding areas resulted in the arrest of 152 suspects.
In Kira Road Division, police operations conducted on February 25 in Universal Kisaasi Sector, Kamwokya, and Kyebando led to the arrest of 49 suspects. In Jinja Road Division, Nakawa, operations conducted at about 11:00pm in Center Zone, Kaggo Buyinja, and Kinawataka resulted in the arrest of 20 suspects.
In Wakiso District, Nansana Police arrested 48 suspects at about 12:30am on February 25, while Wakiso Police Division arrested 23 suspects in Wakiso Town at about 5:00pm on February 24. In Bulenga, including Musoke Road, Kawuzi Street, Gogonya, and Kikaaya Katogo, operations conducted between 4:00pm and 8:00pm led to the arrest of 50 suspects. Additionally, Kajjansi Police Division arrested six suspects during operations conducted at about 5:00pm in Kilyamuli, Kilumba, and Namulanda Ward, Kajjansi Town Council.

Kawala stated that all suspects are currently in police custody. Cases of possession of opium and public nuisance have been opened, and the suspects will be screened and presented before court in due course. Police have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining disruptive operations to deter criminal activity and enhance safety within the metropolitan area.
