Police have arrested 39 suspects during coordinated disruptive operations conducted across various divisions under Kampala Metropolitan Police on March 4, 2026.

The operations were aimed at eliminating criminal elements and enhancing public safety.

The targeted areas included Kevina Road in Kabalagala Division, Kikuuta in Namataba Town Council in Mukono District, Kyebando around Premax Hotel and Kisalasalo under Kira Road Division, Nkrumah Road and Entebbe Road traffic lights under CPS Kampala, and the Luzira–Portbell area under Jinja Road Police Division.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the suspects were apprehended from identified black spots known for harbouring individuals involved in robbery, bag and phone snatching, vehicle part theft, waylaying pedestrians and smoking suspected narcotics.

Police reported that some of the suspects were found in possession of stones and pavers allegedly used to assault victims, as well as suspected narcotic substances.

All suspects have been charged under respective Station Diary references and are currently detained at various police stations pending processing and prosecution.

ASP Owoyesigyire stated that police have intensified both covert and overt operations and will continue conducting regular patrols and intelligence gathering to dismantle criminal networks and maintain law and order.

He further assured the public that the situation in the affected areas remains normal and calm.
