Police Arrest 14 Suspected Robbers in Operation

Police have arrested 14 youth suspected of orchestrating a wave of robberies and terrorizing residents in Njeru Division, SSezibwa Region.

The suspects aged between 12 and 25, were arrested following a meticulously planned operation, guided by intelligence inputs.

They were busted from various hideouts, including Njeru Hared Petrol Station, Wampala zone, Njeru West ward, Njeru central, and Nile Lower Nara zone during the operation conducted on January 8, 2024.

They were found in possession of an assortment of incriminating items, including knives, burglary tools, and illicit substances such as Marijuana. The arrestees are believed to be part of a criminal ring that operated in small groups, typically ranging between five and six individuals.

Fred Enanga, the spokesperson for the police, shed light on the gang’s criminal activities, stating that they are involved in targeting innocent victims through knife-point muggings, robberies, and brazen attacks, including window-smashing and grab assaults.

He mentioned notorious blackspots frequented by revelers at Forever Resort, as key areas where the gang carried out their random attacks.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Baluka Francis, Senyongo Asraf, Odeya James, Runamanyire Sam, Muhaya Hassan, Gumisiriza James, Yusuf Ziwa, Omaset Victor, Ogenrwoth Fortunate, Matovu Yasin, Lugya Micheal, Lule Muhammed, Okumu Peter, Onen Franco, and Anguyo Ronnie.
