Police Apprehend Three in Possession of Counterfeit Currency and Suspected Narcotics
Police in Wakiso have detained three suspects who were found in possession of counterfeit currency, including US dollars and Ugandan currency, along with suspected illegal narcotics.
This follows an intelligence led operation conducted on September 18th, around 5:00 PM. The suspects include; Inkonero Idrisa, Musoke Geofrey, and Jajja Kyeyune Simom.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson says the police received a tip about individuals engaging in suspicious activities.
Onyango says the police raided their three-bedroom rented house in Bandwe, Kyengera Town Council, located in Wakiso district. He explains that upon reaching the rented house where the suspects were situated, they swiftly surrounded and secured the area to prevent the suspects from escaping.
He further states that a thorough search conducted on the house revealed fake currency notes amounting to $35,200, in the form of 100-dollar bills. Additionally, counterfeit Ugandan currency worth seven million shillings, including denominations of fifty thousand and twenty thousand, was confiscated.
Furthermore, court bail documents from Nsangi Magistrates Court and unidentified bones were discovered at the scene, pending submission to the Government Analytical Laboratory for further analysis. Suspected marijuana drugs/substances were also seized.
He says investigations into this matter are ongoing and has urged the public to report any suspicious individuals in their vicinity to local authorities or the police.
