PM Nabbanja Leads Agricultural Mobilization Campaign in Greater Masaka

The Prime Minister of Uganda, Nabbanja Robinah, is spending this weekend in greater Masaka for the agriculture mobilization campaign and expos. This nationwide mobilization campaign is a response to President Museveni’s six policy proposals, which aim to mobilize farmers to increase agricultural production, productivity, and profitability in order to earn from agriculture.

Additionally, there are proposals for disease control, agricultural mechanization, irrigation, farmer education and mobilization, and a comprehensive free health camp.

During the campaign, expos are featured, and sessions are held to share agricultural knowledge and interventions in the fisheries sector. The campaign brings together small-scale and large-scale farmers, agricultural researchers, farmer associations, agro-input dealers, and other stakeholders to share knowledge and skills. This is achieved through demonstrations of value addition and agro-processing technologies by the technical teams.

Yesterday, 28th June 2024, Nabbanja officiated at the expo in Lwengo district at Kaboyo playground, where hundreds of residents participated.

Today, 29th June, the Premier conducted similar expos in Kyotera and Rakai districts. The same events will be held in Masaka district at Kamuzinda, Kyanamukaaka Subcounty, tomorrow, Sunday.

The expos are organized by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), and other stakeholders.

The Premier is hopeful that the campaign will significantly enhance agricultural production, productivity, and profitability, leading to socioeconomic transformation.
