PLU Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Rallys Greater Masaka for Unity and National Development

Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), reassured the people of Greater Masaka of his dedication to collaborating with them in developing Uganda.

“Thank you for embracing PLU. PLU represents your voice,” stated Gen. Kainerugaba during his address on Friday, March 15 at the Greater Masaka Baraza, an event organized by PLU and held at the Masaka Liberation Square in Masaka City. “Together, we will construct Uganda. I extend my gratitude to the organizing committee for orchestrating this event. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.”

During the Baraza, the General elucidated the mission and vision of PLU, describing it as “a civic organization aimed at mobilizing Ugandans to fulfill their civic responsibilities.”

“This entails mobilizing Ugandans to love their country, uphold good citizenship, foster a national spirit, and safeguard Uganda from foreign interference,” he explained, emphasizing that the League endeavors to support vulnerable individuals in communities, combat resource wastage, and tackle corruption.

Gen. Kainerugaba assured the people of Greater Masaka that PLU is impartial, non-denominational, and non-sectarian.

“We embrace individuals from all tribes, races, religions, and political affiliations,” he affirmed. “We are indifferent to your political allegiance; our concern lies in your love for Uganda… Are you willing to make sacrifices for Uganda? That is our sole concern.”

As the army chief and a senior presidential advisor on Special Operations, Gen. Kainerugaba highlighted PLU’s encouragement for all Ugandans to combat corruption and misuse of power, citing these as significant obstacles to development.

“Public offices are the property of the nation,” emphasized Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba. “Those in public office serve you. Refrain from electing corrupt individuals.”

Furthermore, in his speech, the General disclosed the government’s plan to procure 10 million doses of vaccines to immunize animals against foot and mouth disease, aiming to lift the quarantine that has greatly affected cattle farmers.

Addressing youth development, the senior presidential advisor acknowledged Ugandans as among the most innovative individuals globally. He mentioned the government’s commitment, through initiatives like the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) and Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), to provide necessary support, mentorship, and equipment to young people.

“PLU has consistently supported the entertainment industry,” he added.

During his journey to Masaka City, Gen. Kainerugaba made a stopover in Lukaya, where he pledged Shs4 million to various groups involved in activities such as trade, fishing, and craftwork. He also received gifts, including goats and matooke, from residents, some of whom joined his convoy to Masaka.

Frank Gashumba, the vice chairman of PLU in Central Uganda, expressed confidence in Gen. Kainerugaba’s potential as a presidential candidate, based on the support observed during visits across the country, including Greater Masaka.

“We urge MK to take the lead,” remarked Gashumba. “Ugandans now refer to you as Omugogozi Magufuli.”
