The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt Hon Nabbanja Robinah, moved a motion for a Resolution of Parliament to pay tribute to His Holiness the Late Pope Francis, the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church, for his selfless and dedicated service to the Church and to humanity.
According to the Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business, the Late Pope Francis, during his visit to Uganda in 2015, urged Ugandans to support those in need, foster cooperation, and work towards building a just society that upholds human dignity, defends the sanctity of life, and protects the beauty of nature.
The Prime Minister further stated that the Late Pope Francis exemplified deep compassion and commitment toward people from all walks of life, nurturing trust and meaningful connections with others.
“He was always on the side of the forgotten—those whom no one cared to notice,” she emphasized.
Nabbanja expressed her gratitude to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anitah Among, for giving special recognition to this exceptional leader through the consideration of this motion.
She also appreciated the Speaker and her delegation for representing Uganda at the burial of the Late Holy Father at the Vatican.
Rt Hon Anitah Among presided over today’s Plenary session.
Following an overwhelming seconding of the motion, Members of Parliament paid glowing tribute to the Late Pope Francis, describing him as a unique and humble figure whose actions spoke volumes.
