Over 900 Ugandans Recover From COVID-19

A total of 997 people in Uganda are confirmed to have recovered from COVID-19 in 24 hours.

This has raised the country’s cumulative recoveries from covid19 to 66,080.

In an update released on Saturday, the Ministry of Health indicated that of the 5,239 tests done on July 15, 2021, a total of 460 people were confirmed as living with the virus.

According to the Ministry, cumulative confirmed cases are 89,974 while the test positivity rate is now 8.9%.

The ministry also revealed that cumulative samples tested in the country so far stand at 1,418,721. The total number of patients who are suffering from covid19 and are currently admitted in hospitals now stands at 849.

The country also registered 38 new COVID-19 deaths in a 24-hour period, raising the death toll to 2,324. So far, a total of 1,087,152 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Uganda.

In terms of breakdown of new cases, Kampala had 12; Mityana, 24; Kamuli, 18; Ngora, 17; Kalungu, 16; Buikwe, 15; Luwero, 15; Adjumani, 14; Tororo, 13; Mbale, 14; Jinja, 12; Kumi,14; Kyotera, 12; Kapchorwa, 10; Kibuku, 10; Buvuma, 9; Mukono, 8; Wakiso, 21; Kakumiro, 8; Kaliro, 7; Arua, 7; Rakai, 5; Kagadi, 6; Kyankwanzi, 5; and Iganga, 4.

Nakasongola and Sironko each had 4 cases; Kiryandongo, Napak, Nakaseke, Kabale, Kayunga and Kiboga had three cases each. Kyegegwa, Ntoroko, Hoima, Kamwenge, Masaka and Masindi had 2 cases each while Obongi, Isingiro, Mayuge, Amuria, Butambala, Butebo, Bundibugyo, Manafwa, Bududa, Kiruhura, Amuru, Lira, Ngora and Kasese had a single case a piece.
