Opondo Link’s His Home Raid to Besigye’s ‘Plan B’

The home of the government Spokesperson, Ofwono Opondo was last night raided by yet to be identified assailants who were armed with machetes.

Opondo who was appearing on NBS Frontline talk show on Thursday night received information that his family, back in Mukono, was under attack.

Following the attack, the Government Spokesperson has expressed fear for his life after machete-wielding thugs attacked his home on Thursday night.

Opondo said he is fearing for his life and his family members and linked the attack to politics.

“Opposition politicians love to attack us and I suspect this is the Plan B they announced,” Opondo said in an interview.

Family members of Opondo were shocked on Thursday night when thugs entered their house and started checking the whole house for some property.

Four-time presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye recently announced that he would not participate in the 2021 elections but told his supporters that he would lead a plan B which he did not explain.

How it happened

“For now, I have lost contact with members of my family reported to be under attack by unknown people,” Opondo tweeted last night.

He revealed that the machete-wielding individuals had gained access to his bedroom and compound before police were immediately alerted.

“Our territorial team from Mukono responded to the disturbance call from the home of Mr. Ofwono Opondo, the government spokesperson,” a police statement reads.

Opondo, however, says the Police managed to gain access to his home and found a mess left behind by the assailants. A few items including money had been taken.

“ The [assailants] reportedly forced my wife and three daughters into another room,” Opondo tweeted.

The Police have not yet found these assailants. Communication on their social media handles indicates that Ofwono Opndo’s family was secured and is safe.

“I want to thank the police KPM Moses Kafero for the quick response although they haven’t got the assailants yet,” Opondo says.
