The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has issued a public apology following an accident involving one of its vehicles at Kibuye Roundabout in Makindye Division.

The incident occurred on March 18, 2024, when a Judiciary car with registration number UG1059J collided with a motorcycle carrying a mother and child. The car serves as a security detail for one of the senior officers in the directorate.

In a statement released by Jacquelyn Okui, the spokesperson for ODPP, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, it was stated that the ODPP has personally reached out to the victims and issued an apology. Additionally, they have pledged to provide all necessary support to the victims and are collaborating with police authorities to ensure justice is served.

“The office has reached out to the victims and is working closely  with the police authorities to manage the situation and ensure that they receive all the necessary support” she states

Okui emphasized that the ODPP recognizes the importance of proper road usage and is implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.

“We understand that the safety of all individuals on the road is paramount, and we are taking the necessary steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future,” the statement reads in part.

While the identities of the victims remain unknown, it has been confirmed that the accident did not result in serious injuries.
