The National Social Security Fund has launched the career expo season 2026 with the theme “Man or Machine” at Makerere University with career experts and Industry leaders unpacking how artificial intelligence is reshaping the future of work and the skills needed to stay ahead in the work environment.
The event brought career and industrial experts from association of Chartered Certified Accountants, ABSA Bank, AI studio, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and NSSF. The emphasis was on technology and how it gives one virtually what they want and the information in the world and how technology has changed machine and human beings in how they interact and work together.
The Principle of College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology Professor Moses Musinguzi on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of Makerere University Barnabas Nawangwe acknowledged the importance of Artificial Intelligence and how it is being used to conduct assessments in the academic work and developing policies to guide the academic community. “We are using AI and we can certainly attest to the fact that AI has the potential to make many things much better and significantly increase our productivity” Prof. Moses Musinguzi said.

The Deputy Managing Director of NSSF Gerald Kasaato emphasized the role of NSSF in promoting financial literacy among the student community as an opportunity to sensitize them about the importance of saving especially for investment and also register with NSSF even without NSSF numbers
” We are pleased to note that since the career Expo began, we have registered over 120,000 students and they have saved UGX 235 billion which is a significant contribution to their social security and Long term financial well being, Gerald Kasaato said.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Monica Musenero urged leaders in Science and Technology field to guide the nation especially young people on how to use digital transformation to generate incomes. “It’s not about getting information faster but what you do with the time and Data bundles” said Monica Musenero.
