NRM’s Janet Adongo Rose Elau Nominated for Dokolo District MP By-Election”

The NRM flag bearer for Dokolo District by election Janet Adongo Rose Elau, was officially nominated on Monday, 11th, by the Independent Electoral Commission to contest in the Dokolo district woman Member of Parliament by-election scheduled for the 21st of March.

This nomination followed the fulfillment of the electoral body’s requirements, as stated by Mr. Ngobi Stephen Erikwaine, the Returning Officer for Dokolo district.

Adongo was accompanied by the Director of Mobilization at NRM, Hon. Rosemary Seninde, and other party leadership at the district.

Candidates are expected to campaign for 7 days, commencing on Wednesday, March 13th, and concluding on March 19th.

Addressing supporters at the Anwacibana Primary School grounds in Dokolo Town Council after her nomination, Adongo declared, “I intend to prioritize improving healthcare for the people here. I will also collaborate with fellow leaders to fulfill the NRM party promises outlined in the NRM manifesto.”

“In Dokolo district, we lack a general hospital, a matter that has been on the agenda for MPs. I will advocate for this cause and consistently remind the government to upgrade one of our health centers into a general hospital,” Adongo stated.

Rosemary Seninde, the Director of Mobilization at the NRM Secretariat, extended congratulations to all parties involved in the election for conducting peaceful campaigns, expressing hope for smooth campaigning over the next 7 days. Seninde urged NRM supporters to intensify mobilization efforts to ensure victory for their candidate.

She discouraged voters from electing opposition or independent candidates, warning, “Choosing opposition or independent candidates will result in missed opportunities for essential services, as resource allocations are determined in NRM caucus meetings where opposition MPs do not participate.”

“In God’s name, we remain optimistic about winning this by-election, as we have in recent polls,” emphasized the NRM chief mobilizer.

Arimpa John Kigyagi, the NRM Electoral Commission Vice Chairman, expressed confidence in Mrs. Adongo’s candidacy, affirming unity among NRM leaders. He assured locals that the party would deploy teams to enhance voter mobilization and ensure protection on election day.

The nomination rally was also graced by Hon. Felix Okot Ogong, the Member of Parliament for Dokolo South Constituency, and other district leaders.

Voting is scheduled for March 21, 2024
