Todwong Declares War on Corruption Within NRM Structures

The Secretary General of the NRM, Rt.Hon. Richard Todwong, underscored the party’s unwavering commitment to rooting out corruption, labeling it a “cancer” that demands confrontation across all government tiers.

Todwong elucidated the NRM’s robust institutional framework dedicated to combating corruption and expressed confidence in addressing the escalating risks associated with corrupt practices in Uganda.

“Ideologically, the NRM adheres to a zero-tolerance policy on corruption, establishing a deliberately robust institutional framework to facilitate the fight against corruption,” remarked Todwong. These comments were made during today’s media address at the NRM Secretariat in the year-end press conference.

Todwong urged NRM leadership at every level, spanning from grassroots to the apex of the Central Executive Committee (CEC), to actively engage in combating the “cancer of corruption.”

Furthermore, he called upon all government accounting officers, ranging from Sub County Chiefs at the local government level to Permanent Secretaries, Chief Executive Officers, and others at the central government level, to designate 2024 as the Year of a comprehensive battle against Corruption and its related issues.
