NRM Launches ‘Kisoboka’ Agricultural Expo for Wealth Creation

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has launched an ambitious agricultural expo named ‘Kisoboka’ (it is possible), aimed at enhancing productivity and wealth creation among Ugandans.

The initiative was unveiled today by NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong at the Kavumba Recreation Centre in Wakiso town council. Initially, the expo will cover all districts in the central region before expanding to other parts of the country.

The ‘Kisoboka’ expo, a brainchild of NRM Vice Chairman for Central Region Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, is a mindset change initiative designed to mobilize Ugandans, especially the youth, into modern agriculture. The focus is on increasing production, profitability, and wealth creation, with a particular emphasis on coffee.

“This is the gospel we intend to spread throughout the central region among our people. It is consistent with President Museveni’s message of improving people’s livelihoods,” said SG Todwong. He highlighted the campaign’s goal of attracting Ugandans to agriculture by showcasing success stories of individuals thriving in intensive farming.

Hon. Kiwanda emphasized that the expo aligns with the NRM manifesto and the National Development Plan III, which focuses on socio-economic transformation through commercial agriculture. “I am hopeful that farmers will implement the knowledge and guidance offered through sub-regional barazas,” he added.

He also encouraged Ugandans to engage in the Parish Development Model and Emyooga government empowerment programs to access free seedlings and gain knowledge from extension workers.

NRM Deputy Secretary General Rt. Hon. Namayanja Rose Nsereko called on leaders to empower their communities through various income-generating projects instead of criticizing the government. “I implore the leaders to spread information on good farming practices to people in the villages. This is the only way to improve the lives of Ugandans,” Namayanja stated. She added, “Our trail must show that we are moving in the right direction.”

Other notable leaders present at the launch included NRM Vice Chairman for Western Uganda Hon. Chris Baryomunsi, NRM Chairperson for the Women’s League Hon. Lydia Wanyoto, and NRM Youth League leader Nassur Gaddafi, among others from the central region.

The ‘Kisoboka’ expo marks a significant step in NRM’s efforts to foster agricultural development and economic growth across Uganda.
