NRM Caucaus: President Museveni Encourages Leaders to Monitor Government Programs

President Yoweri Museveni has urged members of the National Resistance Movement(NRM) caucus to focus on improving the income of people in their local areas.

While meeting the NRM Parliamentary Caucus at State House Entebbe on Thursday, the president suggested they work with Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) soldiers to teach people how to make money through farming.

He stated that the politicians’ role is to inform people about government-provided seedlings and make sure the soldiers distributed them properly. Some people join the money-making economy without a plan, which is a problem.

He advised politicians to concentrate on increasing incomes in households. This would help stabilize politics in their areas without using their own money but rather government resources.

He said their job was straightforward: monitor government programs. If they did this and asked where government money went, they would become popular because they would expose corrupt individuals. They had access to information since they were in a central position.

Museveni also mentioned the Parish Development Model (PDM). He said that if they focused on improving the livelihoods of families in their areas by helping them work for both their immediate needs and savings, there would be less political pressure.

He urged leaders to find success stories within their communities that could inspire others to work hard and improve their lives. If there were no good examples, they should create one themselves.

Additionally, he asked caucus members to support State House Skilling programs, assist the Ministry of Education in developing technical schools, and promote the Emyooga program to help young people create jobs and tackle unemployment in the country. He highlighted the success of his State House Skilling program among the youth.
